physical + recreational
The physical and recreational activities promote physical, emotional and social health in a safe, fun venue. Benefits of physical and recreational activities include social interactions, cooperation, teamwork and sense of belonging. It will be adapted to include all levels of ability.
Camp Shine is a half-day (10am-2:30pm), "mini-camp" experience with physical and recreational activities, team sports, music and arts & crafts on the first Saturday of each month. Tentatively, it’s scheduled for 5/2, 6/6, 7/11, 8/8, 9/12, 10/10, 11/7, 12/5.
Cost $40 per Saturday and scholarship is available for cash payers in need. Anyone can purchase three sessions for $100. The cost includes a pizza lunch, however, members with food allergies are required to bring their own lunch. We are preparing to be a vendor for Family Support and Respite funding and for NOW Waiver participant-direct/self-direct services. Our goal is to maintain 1:1 ratio (staff or volunteer to member) and assign a buddy for each camp.
Registration, application, waivers and payment are required for each session via The Shine Community’s website. However, we require legal guardians or caregivers to be present for those who need help with self-care. We will accept members under 18 on a case by case basis and they also require legal guardians or responsible caregivers to be present. Click HERE to register.
